I was thrown into what seemed to be a tobacco farm in what seemed to be an early settlement in America Suddenly I remembered On May 14, 1607, the Virginia Company explorers landed on Jamestown Island to establish the Virginia English colony on the banks of the James River, 60 miles from the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay.
While disease, famine, and continuing attacks of neighboring Algonquians took a tremendous toll on the population, there were times when the Powhatan Indian trade revived the colony with food in exchange for glass beads, copper, and iron implements. It appears that eventual structured leadership of Captain John Smith kept the colony from dissolving. Although the suffering did not totally end at Jamestown for decades, some years of peace and prosperity followed the wedding of Pocahontas, the daughter of the chief Powhatan, to tobacco farmer John Rolfe.
The first representative assembly in the New World convened in the Jamestown church. The Virgina House of Burguesses met in response to orders from the Virginia Company to establish law between the citizens.
Jamestown was a very nice place it reminded me of a town near near the coast of the Atlantic, when I entered the chirp i saw the legislature convening and decided to sit and see what did the founders of democracy do, I was so shocked by how similar our system is to theirs. After the meeting ended I stood up to talk a member of the house but I was immediately sucked into time itself.
