I was thrown into what this time was a fur trade center. "Of course this must be Plymouth", I thought. Plymouth was inhabited by the Pilgrims, a group of religious separatists (people who want to separate from the Church of England) who set off to America from Holland, although the majority of them are originally English. The Plymouth colony formed one of the first independent governments in the New World that wasn't ruled directly under the English government. Although they reported to England overall, the rules of their everyday lives were created by the Mayflower Compact, the first governing document of the Plymouth Colony.
As I walked into Plymouth I compared the citizens of Plymouth to the modern day Amish person and finally came up with conclusion that they are very similar. Plymouth made me feel like I was back in Georgia at the family farm helping the family pick crops. As soon as I began to cherish the city I was once again sucked away to my next destination.
