When I got up from the ground I saw that I had traveled froward in tame by at least a hundred years. I looked around an dI saw clock towers, ships, and fishing harbors, after looking around it hit me that I must be in the New England Colonies. The New England colonies had great natural harbors and plenty of tall, straight trees (which are great for ship building) but poor rocky soil and long bitter winters (which are bad for farming). The colonists who came here were not farmers, but townspeople who were seeking to set up a religious paradise where they would be free to practice their religion in peace (and persecute others who didn't agree with them).
Because of the poor soil, these colonies did not spread out into farming communities but grouped together into towns. New Englanders tended to live closely together in small towns and the surrounding farmland and pastures were commonly owned or in some way shared.Fishing and lobster were big business. Ship building was also a major industry. Some of the finest ships in England were built in New England.
New England wasn't quite the place for me being a southern boy and all so I decided to just lay down and wait for time to come to me.
